Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyses legislative developments that have a bearing on the host country's police reform process;
- Provides advice on the improvement of the legislative framework, with a view to fostering police reform and improving the accountability
system;
- Prepares reports and analysis of relevant laws, by-laws and legal practices, especially taking into account compliance with relevant
human rights standards, national legal system and international standards/best practices;
- Formulates and implements activities to assist the host country in the police reform process, with special focus on the area of criminal
justice;
- Liaises and maintains contacts with officials in Serbia, including law enforcement agencies, public prosecution services, as well as
relevant non-governmental organizations and international partners on matters affecting the legislative aspects of the police reform
process and development;
Requirements
- Previous experience in the justice system or public administration
- Knowledge of the standards and practices of modern criminal justice system
- Proven ability to produce quality legal analysis, including on legislation relating to internal affairs
- Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation
- Good drafting skills and the ability to tailor reports and presentations to the needs of a specific audience
- Professional fluency in the English language, both oral and written
