Description

This October, The African Development Bank, The Economic Commission for Africa and United Nations Development program will again conduct the African Economic Conference (AEC 2014). The program which is to take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, will be for the 9th time since the program inception. The theme for the 2014 AEC is Knowledge and Innovation for Africa’s Transformation. The AU Agenda 2063 and the African Common Position on the Post-2015 development agenda identify science, technology and innovation as key pillars for Africa’s development. The key objectives of the AEC series are:

   - promote knowledge management as an important driver of policy dialogue, good policy planning and implementation;
   - encourage and enhance research on economic and policy issues related to the development of African economies;
   - foster dialogue that promotes the exchange of ideas and innovative thinking among researchers, development practitioners and African
     policymakers;
   - provide an opportunity for young African researchers, African in the diaspora, regional and sub-regional to disseminate their research
     findings as well as share information with African policymakers on their work they do in the region.


Eligibility

The program welcomes researchers, policymakers and development practitioners from Africa and elsewhere.


Costs

Support is reserved for presenters and young researchers from Africa. Only one author per paper accepted for presentation will be eligible for support. On submitting their papers, authors are requested to indicate whether they require support to cover expenses (travel, accommodation and daily subsistence allowance) associated with their participation of the Conference.
